You’ve heard about all the amazing benefits aloe has on your skin, hair, health, and more. Naturally given all of its benefits, aloe should be part of your routine as much as possible- but have you ever eaten aloe? Here are a few recipes to try at home!

Smoothies  

For an Aloe smoothie cut the gel out of the aloe plant and add it into your favorite smoothie mixes in order to receive some of aloe’s amazing superfood benefits. Below are two suggested flavor combos for your  aloe vera smoothie!

“Simple AF” 

Ingredients: Coconut milk, Frozen strawberries,  1 banana,  ~¼ cup of aloe vera plant gel

Add ingredients in the blender and mix until ideal smooth consistency is achieved. Add in more coconut milk as desired to thin out the mix. Add in sweetener if you would like. Pour, DRINK ASAP, and enjoy all the benefits!! 

Tropical Breeze

Ingredients: Coconut water, Orange juice,  Pineapple, Kiwi,  Cucumber,  ~¼ cup of aloe vera plant gel 

Add ingredients in the blender and mix until ideal smooth consistency is achieved. Add in more orange juice as desired to thin out the mix. Add in sweetener if you would like. Similar to the “Simple AF” smoothie… Pour, DRINK ASAP, and enjoy all the benefits!

Aloe Vera Stir Fry

Ingredients: Aloe Vera leaves (~4 cups),  Black salt (¼ tsp),  Salt (½ tsp),  Raisins (3 tbsp),  Cumin seeds (½ tsp),  Fennel seeds (½ tsp),  Whole red chillies (3),  Turmeric (½ tsp),  Red chili powder (1 tsp),  Coriander Powder (1 tsp),  Mango powder (¾ tsp),  Olive oil (3 tbsp),  Sugar (½ tsp),  Curd (1 ½ tbsp)

Preparation: Wash and peel the sides of the aloe vera stems to remove the thorns. Chop into thin slices and pressure cook for 2 whistles with 1 glass of water. Wash with cold water. Heat oil in a pan. Add fenugreek seeds, fennel seeds, and cumin into pan. When seeds start crackling add whole red chillies. Add turmeric and boiled aloe vera and sauté for one minute.

Aloe Vera Summer Salad

Ingredients: 1 Aloe Vera leaf  Basil seeds (2 tsp), soaked in 3 tbsp of water until plump (can substitute with Chia seeds),  1 apple (peeled and diced),  10 strawberries chopped,  2 mandarin oranges, seedless (½ cup chopped), handful of blueberries,  Rose water (2 tbsp),  Chopped fresh mint (2 tbsp)

Preparation: Cut the ridges of the Aloe Vera stem and cut into sections,  Soak in water for 5-10 minutes,  Peel away all the skin,   Dice the gel-like flesh,  Mix together all the diced fruit and other ingredients.  Serve chilled and add sweetener if desired (sugar, agave nectar, honey, etc), consume fruit salad within hours before the aloe becomes runny!

Add in other fruits to compliment if desired (recommended: kiwi, guava, pomegranate, etc).
